Mar 19, 2026 5 min read

When to use Type A and when Type B is right for your building's drainage system.
SWR — soil, waste and rain water — pipe comes in two grades under ISI 13592. Type A is lighter and meant for ventilation and rain water. Type B is thicker, tougher, and meant for soil and waste lines that actually carry sewage.
Mixing the two correctly is how you save money without sacrificing safety. Use Type B on every wet stack and underground line. Use Type A on roof vents, rainwater downtakes and balcony drains.
Margo Pipes & Fittings SWR is colour-coded and clearly stamped so your plumber never has to guess. That's the kind of detail that turns a 20-year drainage system into a 40-year one.
